All About Alexis Folk

Hello my name is Alexis Folk, I was born premature resulting in my Cerebral Palsy. I live in a small town in BC. I am currently going into grade 10 in September 2022. I love swimming and volunteering for clubs. I have been horse riding since I was three years of age for fun.

When I was three, I was on TSN for the Therapeutic Riding Program in British Columbia.

One of my passions is advocating and spreading awareness for people with disabilities. As a person with a disability myself, I believe it is important that we educate people about disabilities. That way it will help people better understand disabilities. After I interview people on my MMP podcast I feel that Non disabled people for now have a better appreciation and understanding for what people with inclusive abilities go through and have more appreciation for their unique individual talents!

It is also very important to me to create equal opportunities for everyone, regardless of their challenges in life, or their disabilities. It is important to me to create a world where everyone is included in all activities. I think that everybody should have an equal chance to join the team, because I know what it feels like to be left out of an activity because of mobility issues. Which is why I chose to take part in a program called Project Adventure, for people with all types of disabilities. The purpose of Project Adventure is to insure people with disabilities have the same opportunities as everyone else would!

This year’s Project is a Podcast called Meeting Mighty People. A podcast that will hopefully help to promote inclusion, spread awareness for all types of disabilities and provide people with some interesting educational information about all different types of disabilities!

Learn about my passion of riding horses which started at three years old!

Here’s the Youtube video of me and my journey with Creston Therapeutic Riding Program. It is the time we won the TSN Kraft Celebration Tour in 2012.
